Stress-free flying

Have you thought of everything before your flight? We have put together a passenger checklist to make sure that your flight is as relaxing as possible, whether you're off on holiday or travelling to a business meeting.

Departure time

Departure time

Please check your departure time the day before you fly. If you have booked a very early flight, most airlines will allow you to check in the previous evening.

Documents

Documents

You will need your identity card or passport to travel. Children also need one of these forms of identification. Please check whether an entry visa is required for the country you are travelling to. You also need to take your flight ticket, booking number or boarding card to the airport with you.

Hold baggage

Hold baggage

Weigh your hold baggage before you leave home. Most airline tickets include a baggage allowance of 20 kg. This will save you from having to pay for excess baggage.

Hand luggage

Hand luggage

Please read the safety information for hand luggage. There are restrictions on liquids in hand luggage. Remember any medication you may need to take. You will have to switch your mobile phone off before you fly.

Checking in

Checking in

Many airlines offer their passengers advance check-in options online or using a self-service machine. This allows you to avoid queueing at the check-in desk. You can check in your luggage at the special baggage drop-off desks. Arrive at the airport in plenty of time for your flight. Depending where you are flying to, you should aim to get to the airport two hours before your departure time.

Clothing

Clothing

Please bear in mind that the temperature may be different at your destination. If you are flying to warmer climes, you are welcome to leave your winter coat at our service centre. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended for the flight.

Health on board

Health on board

Drink plenty of fluids! Water, unsweetened tea, and fruit juice mixed with water are ideal. Try not to drink too much coffee, alcohol, cola and black tea.

People with contact lenses are advised to wear glasses instead. Anyone who tends to suffer from thrombosis should take preventive action. Don't stay seated throughout the flight. Stand up regularly as this helps to keep the blood pumping and stimulates your circulation.
