Around the terminal
Berlin, 13.05.2012Around 100,000 visitors attended the open days last weekend, including Berlin's Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit, Brandenburg's Minister-President Matthias Platzeck, Airport CEO Prof. Dr. Schwarz and Airport COO Dr. Körtgen. The visitors were able to view BER from the apron and on a tour of the terminal.
Numerous exhibitors spread across a huge event site presented a varied programme on the new airport, demonstrated their latest technology and provided insights into working life at the airport. For example visitors were able to take a look inside a Condor Airbus A320 on Saturday, and inside the cockpit of a Lufthansa Airbus A319 and an Air France/KLM DC-3 on Sunday. The airport fire service also presented treasures such as its oldest fire engine alongside the latest and most noted addition to its fleet: the Panther. The Air Service Berlin offered helicopter rides over the airport, giving visitors a panoramic aerial view. Kids were able to enjoy the Lufthansa plane rally, a soapbox cart race on the apron and sports activities by Hertha BSC, Alba Berlin and 1. FC Union as well as the BER bouncy castle.
